The CAD is has recovered slightly today and is trading near the mid-point of this week’s range. News today was limited to poor second tier NHPI numbers which missed the expected flat 0.0% print coming in at -0.1%. Tomorrow’s employment data headlines the AM news out of the US.
The USD is quiet and trading relatively flat against most of the G10 currencies this morning. Fundamentals were positive state side but limited to second tier releases as well. Unemployment Claims reported just below the 215K forecast at 209K. While Final Wholesale Inventories came in at a flat 0.0% vs. the expected 0.2%.
The Euro is flat after retracing some of the early week gains. Fundamentals were very light and any movement will likely be in response to position adjustments as well as reactions to the ongoing trade negotiations.
Equities are up across the board this morning: the Dow up 0.60%, the S&P up 1.16%, NASDAQ up 1.40% and the TSX up 0.72%. Crude Oil is up 3.17% this morning (52.71) while Gold is down 0.29% ($1,496.85).
